Evelyn nació así: no se si conocieron pero había un coreógrafo muy conocido en Argentina que se llamaba Eric Zepeda. Fue el coreógrafo de Nélida Roca. Como mi mamá era artista y eran todos amigos, yo le decía: “Eric! quiero ver el show del Maipo”.
En aquel entonces el Maipo estaba prohibido para menores de 18 años, y yo tenía 15. Eric me llevaba a escondidas al palco y yo desde ahí podía ver las revistas, a Norma Pons y a todas las vedettes de aquella época. A mi me gustaba mucho la imagen de Mimí Pons y así quise enfocar a Evelyn...a los 18 años cuando ya podía comenzar a trabajar me hice ropa y arranque a practicar en Maracaibo en Mar del Plata. En ese momento estaban los travestis brasileros en auge y estaban haciendo un espectáculo en la Avenida Colón.
Como el dueño de Maracaibo quería llevarles la contra, eso me dió la oportunidad de arrancar. Empecé entonces en Maracaibo...ahí vino Lina Rayder que era la dueña del famoso Cabaret Can Can y de ahí me llevó a Buenos Aires porque quedó encantada conmigo.
Evelyn was born like this: I don't know if you know but there was a well-known choreographer in Argentina named Eric Zepeda. He was the choreographer for Nélida Roca. Since my mom was an artist and they were all friends, I told her: “Eric! I want to see the show at the Maipo”.
At that time the Maipo was prohibited for those under 18 years of age, and I was 15. Eric would secretly take me to the balcony and from there I could read magazines, and see Norma Pons and all the others at that time. I really liked Mimí Pons’ image and that's how I wanted to focus on Evelyn.
At the age of 18, when I could start working, I made clothes and started practising in Maracaibo in Mar del Plata. At that time, Brazilian Transvestites were on the rise and they were putting on a show on Avenida Colón. As the owner of Maracaibo wanted to give them some competition, that gave me the opportunity to start. So I started in Maracaibo. Lina Rayder came from there, she was the owner of the famous Cabaret Can Can.
